I had two great passions in my life. The one passion was a world where fantasy responding, a world of ancient stories and legends of magical characters like dragons, dwarfs, fairies, elves, witches and magicians. My world also extended to the dark side of fantasy with spirits, ghosts and vampires.
My other passion is fashion. I have several years of classes at a fashion institute to get the practice of making clothes mastered and I completed a fashion and stylist training at the Fashion Academy Artemis in Rotterdam.
In Sambruja I now have my two passions brought together. The name Sambruja is composed of “Sam” from Samanta and “bruja” which is Spanish for witch. My Spanish background is also reflected in the example substances that I use and the name of my designs.
For inspiration Sambruja I find inspiration in books, movies and music on the history from antiquity to the 18th century. This play among other topics as Wicca, Celtic traditions or historical stories a big role. Sometimes I get a certain song or a scene from a movie an idea for an article of clothing or outfit. Therefore, every garment that I create my own story and background. Another important way to get inspiration for me, visiting festivals as Elfia, Castlefest, Keltfest, Magic Samhaim and of course the many indoor exhibitions.
My designs have their own unique creation process. Therefore, in principle, any garment that I design exactly the same. I can make a garment pattern or terms again, but the fabric used will be different if I edit the same fabric with a color. Another way to ensure that the garments are never identical is by applying a different emphasis on the garment, for example, by the use of side, so that the result will always be different. In this way all my designs its own identity and keep their exclusivity.
My collection includes garments that are suitable for everyday use, as some dresses, blouses or tops. These are my most “commercial” designs. The designs are less commercial and more focused on “Gothic” or “fantasy”.
